A trusted partner and safe pair of hands
Hello, I’m Gemma, a leading specialist in UK health philanthropy.
I created Grateful Giving from many years working in NHS fundraising and patient and family philanthropy. At Addenbrooke’s, I created the NHS’s first Grateful Patient Programme.
I have also led major capital campaigns for a new children’s hospital and a cancer hospital, starting without an established major donor base.

17+ YEARS EXPERIENCE
Today, I work with NHS charities, national health charities, professional bodies and clinical leaders nationwide, turning philanthropic potential into programmes that are ambitious, appropriate and built to last. I believe Grateful Giving is one of the biggest untapped opportunities in health philanthropy. Done well, it can help charities raise more while enabling patients and families to give in a way that feels meaningful to them.
Recent clients include NHS charities for Trusts including; Alder Hey, Chelsea & Westminster, Frimley, Leicester, Mid-Cheshire, Moorfields, Newcastle, Norfolk & Norwich, Northumbria, Oxford, Sheffield and Southampton. I've also been working with The Royal Veterinary College, Teenage Cancer Trust, NHS Charities Together and St John International.
SOME OF THE GREAT Fundraising Organisations I’ve Been Proud to Support

"Gemma is such a unique and thoughtful fundraiser. She brings an immense amount of warmth and compassion with her sheer experience. I would hesitate to work with anyone other than Gemma. She's the safest and surest pair of hands there is."
Fundraising Director, NHS Charity
"Gemma is a wonderful fundraiser and we miss working with her. She’s fabulous at building relationships – she is thoughtful, entrepreneurial and most importantly, listens. We never felt like she was trying to sell us something. Her approach encouraged us to introduce other donors because we felt like we were in safe hands. She’s thoughtful and communicative when there’s no pending ask. More charities need a Gemma!"
"Gemma introduced the first Grateful Patient Fundraising programme in the NHS to Cambridge University Hospitals. Since then we have seen an increase in donations and increased staff engagement with the charity"
